Journals, Transactions, or Proceedings (IEEE titles come as both journals and transactions. ACM and IEEE titles also come as Proceedings.)

  1. Search title in ILS. Search using keyword and title.
  2. If there is a CD-record, add.
  3. Check in on serial control
  4. If there is no record, search OCLC, import.
  5. If there is no record in OCLC, create and import.
  6. Update cataloging statistics as appropriate.

Adding CD if there is a record and control.

  1. Check serial control, create prediction, check in
  2. Add piggyback barcode and check out to “INPROCESS”
  3. Send CD to Preservation with location flag.
  4. If there is an earlier issue at Hunt, pull and transfer to bookBot as “INPROCESS”, and update item on Call Number/Item tab. *
  5. Update cataloging statistics

Adding CD if there is no record.

  1. Import 
  2. Create serial control.
  3. Follow 1-3 above.
  4. Update cataloging statistics to reflect new record brought in and item.

Checking in CD
-For Hunt:

  1. Check in CD on control
  2. Add piggyback barcode and check out to “INPROCESS”
  3. Send CD to Preservation
  4. If it is the first issue for the new year, transfer previous year to bookBot. *
  5. Update cataloging statistics.

-For Hill and Branch:

  1. Check in CD on control
  2. Add piggyback barcode and check out to “INPROCESS”
  3. Send CD to Preservation with location flag
  4. Update cataloging statistics

* For Hunt CD-ROMs Orion Pozo made the decision for space consideration to move older issues of the CDs to the bookBot when new issues arrived.
